Dr. Jane Macfarlane

Director, Smart Cities, Sustainable Transportation, UC Berkeley

Jane is Director of the Smart Cities Center at University of California at Berkeley and Executive Director of the Sustainable Transportation Initiative at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She headed research for HERE, a leader in geospatial mapping, was VP of Process Engineering at battery company Imara, and Director of Advanced Technology Planning for OnStar at General Motors. Her focus and expertise encompasses geospatial mapping, semantic analytics, big data analytics and visualization, contextualization of data streams and spatially distributed computing.

Gregory Waters

Founder, Microfacturing Institutes, Director at Mellanox Technology

Greg is founder of Microfacturing Institutes, a team dedicated to re-invent the education and new job creation model around the globe. He was President & CEO of Integrated Device Technology, a global leader in Smart Sensor and IoT products from 2014 – 2019. He’s been part of some of the most influential teams that brought mobile communications, smart sensing, and high speed internet access into broad usage. Greg’s next act is to show that the Data Economy can bring economic growth to everyone – if they’ve got the right skills.

Peter Knez

Founder, Knez Ventures

Peter is the former Co-Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock and was Global Chief Investment Officer for Fixed Income at Barclays. He has held key positions with Lincoln Capital Management and Goldman Sachs. In the academic world, he has held professorships at Kellogg School of Management, University of Wisconsin, and University of Chicago. He is now an Angel investor and participates actively in startups ranging from Fintech to Cybersecurity.

Dr. Drew Starbird

Director, My Own Business Institute

Drew is the director of the My Own Business Institute at Santa Clara University, and professor of operations management and information systems (OMIS). He was the Dean of SCU’s Leavey School of Business and has enabled students to start businesses that create jobs around the world. He has received numerous awards for his teaching and scholarship. His research interests include quality control and management, supply chain management and food safety.

Mark Patel

Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company

Mark is a Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company, with over 14 years’ experience serving advanced industrial and high tech clients. He leads McKinsey’s Internet of Things service line globally and leads their digital business building service line for Advanced Industries. He is a passionate believer in the impact that the IoT, analytics and AI will have in improving our lives, work, society and our health.
